Conference preparation; updated country statistics

At this moment there are 299 registered participants, and this number will not significantly change. Today we have sent an email for sharing with all the participants up-to-date information about conference preparation, e. g. web-site updates.

You can see statistics of the conference participants by country on the chart below (a larger image is available on click). The red line shows cumulated number of participants on the right-hand axis. If you want to cooperate with other participants from your country when traveling to Jyvaskyla in summer, you can use special contact forum

Registration of presenting persons has finished

As you all know, March 15th was the deadline for registration of the presenting persons, and simultaneously the deadline for early-bird registration. It is time to look at some statistics.
At this moment, 277 persons from 42 countries have been registered and among them, presenters of 245 talks. We expect some more presenting persons to be registered, as the deadline is extended to March 22th on their requests.

The following diagram shows country statistics: bars present participant numbers and the line cumulated number (on the right-side axe).

UPD. One participand made a mistake when registering: noone from Tonga; +1 from The Netherlands.

The deadline for submitting abstracts has passed

As you know from the Call for Abstracts, the Conference was planned for about 200 participants.
Surprisingly, we have received so many abstracts that developing the conference program becomes a challenge. This positive problem will be solved from two opposite directions:
  • Increasing the number of talks. Whether to add the 5th parallel session or to make conference days longer? – this is really hard choice.
  • Rejecting part of abstracts, which is much more unpleasant side of the issue. The reviewers are asked to raise the bar for the abstract quality; a number of good abstracts will be probably left behind by the Program Committee, which is a matter of program composition.
If your abstract will be rejected, please do not take it on personal account but on the account of the program tighteness; and consider the possibility to present your results and ideas in a discussion session!
